Actus Reus describe their sound as the new wave of metalcore; mixing in sounds from bands such as Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Parkway Drive, Machine Head and Tool. Some tracks on the catalogue have a thrash metal sound such as the first track “I Live in a Coffin” or a groove metal flow such as “Cultist”, while the the new single “Thoughts Revoked” has a classic metalcore vibe along with blast beats and nasty gutturals. It is hard to categorize their sound, which makes the tracks even more appealing and well worth the listen.

Actus Reus have started recording songs for their first full length album “Mens Rea, Pt. I”. The singles “Jimmy”, “Suburban Decay”, “Cultist”, and “Thoughts Revoked” are already available on all streaming platforms. “Mens Rea” is a double concept album about the life and destruction of the fictional character Jimmy who seeks to overthrow the government and bring the world back together.

 Actus Reus had the honor of performing at Welcome To Rockville 2021 at Daytona International Speedway along with an insane amount of talented bands such as Metallica, Slipknot, Lamb of God, Mudvayne, and many others. Actus Reus headlined the Twitch stage on Saturday night of the festival and performed in front of an estimated 2,000 fans from all over the country. From the opening note, the crowd was involved and singing every word. The performance was made possible by the DWPresents Twitch channel where Actus Reus came in 2nd place in a performance based competition. The band’s popularity and marketing technique were put on display at Rockville; they were able to draw what was possibly the largest crowd the Twitch stage drew over the entire weekend.
