Actus Reus is a modern metalcore band from the Atlanta suburb Buford, Georgia. Actus Reus was started by guitarist Landon Hosea, bassist Logan Grailer, and vocalist Adam Rose while they were in high school. The band played house parties for a couple years until 2018 when Actus started playing clubs around Athens, Georgia. The band’s popularity grew quickly in the local scene in Athens and Atlanta due to the in your face, energetic live shows. The band released their first single ‘Failure to Comply’ in September 2018 with small town producer Dylan Boulet. The single did very well for a local band’s first song and their popularity continued to grow. Actus then decided to pick up a second guitarist Jack Faught to give the live shows more depth. The group set out to record their four song EP ‘Vengeance’ in early 2019 and then released the EP in April. The EP gained attention from metalheads all over the world and put Actus Reus up in the local Georgia metal scene. Since releasing the EP, Actus Reus has played many live shows across Georgia opening up for national bands such as Moon Tooth, The Anchor, and The Number Twelve Looks Like You. The band has cycled through three drummers to date, but are set for the future with the machine gun Isaac Broquist. BIOGRAPHY Actus Reus describe their sound as the new wave of metalcore; mixing in sounds from bands such as Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Parkway Drive, and Machine Head. Some tracks on the EP have a real thrash metal sound such as the first track ‘I Live in a Coffin’ or a groove metal flow such as ‘Down Under’, while the EP’s title track incorporates death, prog and thrash metal. It is hard to categorize their sound, which makes the EP even more appealing and well worth the listen. Actus Reus has started recording songs for their first full length album ‘Mens Rea’. The first single ‘Jimmy’ will be out on all streaming platforms February 14th and will feature a music video along with the release. ‘Mens Rea’ is a concept album about the life and destruction of the fictional character Jimmy who seeks to overthrow the government and bring the world back together.
